Toyota is hot these days, with its upcoming hatchback Etios Liva powered by 80 bhp and 1.2L petrol engine. Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director, Marketing said to Automobilesnext.com that – “We are now all set to launch the Etios Liva. The launch will be as per the schedule in the last week of June.”
It will be the first hatchback in India from Toyota which will compete with the likes of Maruti Swift, Ford Figo, Nissan Micra, Skoda Fabia, VW Polo and Fiat Punto etc. Sources said that after the launch of petrol Liva, Company will launch its diesel variant shortly. Company is hoping diesel Liva at the end of 2011. The launching of Etios Liva Petrol was delayed from April this year due to production and supply issues caused by Tsunami in Japan, but these issues have finally been resolved.
The expected price of Etios Liva is around Rupees 5 Lakh, so it can attract large number of car enthusiasts or buyers. So far as its features are concerned, it might be primarily compared to Hyundai’s i-20 and Honda’s upcoming hatchback Brio in the same segment. Honda expects its small hatchback Brio by the last quarter of this year.
Gradually, being expensive with commuting in petrol car, one of the biggest priorities is to get a fuel economic car these days. Indian auto makers are thus, planning to introduce more diesel cars. This is the only reason, diesel variant of Etios Liva is targeted by this year end. Apart from that, another small car Chevrolet Beat Diesel is also in queue to be launched shortly. So after a price war of petrol, be ready for diesel cars war.
